The market range for instant noodles targets those between the ages of 18-35 which comprises workers, school and university students who have little time to devote to food preparation. Noodles on the go are most likely to be purchased for thier convenience, followed by taste, affordability and the ease of preparation. Instant hot snacks are worth £308 million in the last year with sales up by 3%. (Nielsen Total Market 52 weeks to 23rd April 2022). The leading brand in the hot snack category is Pot Noodle with positive growth of 14.8% last year and a current value of £142.4 million. (Nielsen Hot Snack 22.04.23). Pot snacks lead Block Noodles with a current value of £234.3 million, and the latter worth £72.5 million being the 2nd largest sub-category. However, block noodles have had the most growth from the previous year (27.5%), whilst pot snacks experienced a growth of 13.4%. . (Nielsen Instant hot snacks 22.04.23). Purchases of noodle snack meals are particularly high amongst students and single occupant households, due to the avoidance of waste and the ease with which the food can be prepared. +3.0% 76% of those aged 55 or above are significantly more likely than any other age group to say that they never eat noodles on the go.
