Focus On - Alcoholic Ready To Drink
Market Insight The ARTD category is one that benefits when you create a broad meaningful range of different spirits and flavours. “Depth of choice is vitally important when it comes to ARTD ranges in Impulse. Ensuring your range has a broad choice of flavours and brands covers this." Spirit & Mixer products are driving more than half of all growth in the ARTD category. “Cocktails and Spirit & Mixer are forecast to continue to drive growth over the next five years, while Hard Seltzers continue to decline,” says a spokesperson from Pernod Ricard UK. “To future proof their ARTD ranges, impulse retailers should consider trends in the market and make sure to cater for the likes of tequila and rum (within ARTDs and more generally) in their range offerings.” The category is continuing to become more diverse and meet more consumer need states. While spirit & mixer combinations still make up nearly half the category, ‘enhanced ARTDs’ – brands like WKD X, Dragon Soop and Four Loko – are now worth 20% share of the impulse ARTD market and cocktails are at 7%. Retailers should make sure they are dedicating enough space in their fixtures for each segment according to their market share. 6 Nielsen Impulse ‘Supplier defined RTD sub-category £ Value MAT to 02.12.23 7 Nielsen Impulse RTD £ Value MAT to 02.12.23 Page 4 www.planforprofit.co.uk @PlanforProfitRetail @Plan_for_Profit Which areas of the market are driving growth? 7 6
